Ohiopyle Rafting
Ohiopyle rafting is some of the best whitewater rafting anywhere on the east coast. The main focal point in Ohiopyle is the Youghiogheny River, which runs the entire length of Ohiopyle State Park. The part of the Youghiogheny River (Yough) that runs through the park starts in Confluence and flows down to Bruner Run. It is divided into two sections, the Middle Yough and Lower Yough.
The Middle Yough
The first section is called the Middle Yough. The Middle Yough begins in Confluence Pennsylvania and is roughly 11 miles long. The Middle Yough is a great river for familes with young children or inexperienced rafters. Immediately after the take-out for the Middle Yough is Ohiopyle Falls. This 20 foot waterfall is off-limits to all rafters and kayakers. Immediately after Ohiopyle Falls, the Lower Yough begins.
